That is a dang good loaded question.
I have been asking myself that for years. Not just adult years, or the years I have been trying to build my business, but since like middle school. Not just a loud voice either, I got that one covered! Some people have that confidence as soon as they pop out. I just don't get it.
Now try wanting to start a new business when you are still trying to figure out the voice thing. Yea, not very smart. But hey, it is working. The more I research myself, the better my photos get. The better my photos get, the louder I get. See the pattern?
You have to put in the work on yourself. You have to get out the door and try all the things. And all those things are not going to work. Sometimes you have to put your business on the back burner while you are growing and then pick it back up. Sometimes you have to let others inspire you. And not just the ones that are in your niche, but other strong minded women. You have to reach out and do the things that do not make any sense whats so ever!
Like doing some things for free. But also those free things have to benefit your vision. And here is the tricky part, you have to be ok with that. There was a time when I felt guilty for doing those things for me instead of it being for them. Yea not anymore. Wanna know why. Because I am slowly finding that tiny little voice in my head.
Let me mention this as well. Your style. It is definitely not going to be for everyone. I pull inspo from others, yes, but I shoot what I like. Now I know I know, how is that good for business? I thought you were suppose to shoot for the client and for what they like. But hear me out, if you don't shoot what you like, is your work still going to make you happy? And if not, do you not think it will reflect in your photos? Find what you like and makes you happy. Shoot it. Show it. Do it. Live it. I promise, someone out there will love it as well. They will appreciate your authenticity.
So finding your voice is not as easy as me writing this blog. It takes some time and effort and some heartache. It takes trial and error. It takes being honest with yourself. Listening to yourself and yes sometimes others. But honestly, the journey is so much fun.
No rules were followed in the making of these photos!
